Mulan is not a princess either. No princes anywhere, just military. And technically neither was Pocahontas, but we won’t go there.
Well, you did just go there lol. They are princesses because they are Disney’s Princesses.
Most people in this fandom do actually understand that there is a difference between historical accuracy/technicalities and who Disney thinks would be a good addition to their Princess line-up. When we say something about Mulan or Pocahontas being a princess, we mean Disney Princess and find it rather irritating when someone has to make their rebuttal about how they’re “technically not a princess”.
